Autumn song

Bone thin ghost moon,

bone thin ghost moon,

rising

above the fluttering copper and golden leaves,

the scattered orange and yellow leaves

of this beautiful, of this beautiful

dying time.

 Sun flares crimson and gold,

sun flares crimson and gold,

glowing,

through the darkening trees

of this beautiful, of this beautiful

dying time.

Lovers hand in hand, lovers embracing,

aware of the turning world

of everything changing,

holding each other close,

feeling the bones beneath the skin,

seeing winter’s bones emerging,

~ in this beautiful, in this beautiful

dying time.
